Now that we have reached the end of the fasting period, let us reflect on what we have let go and what we can change moving forward.
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6
As we have fasted on things like food or social media (that we are so used to consuming), we are reminded that God will provide for us, leading us on the right path. So, we should continue to trust in God, fear no evil, and place our faith in Him.
Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.
Daniel 9:3
Just like David, fasting is an act of preparation for tough times ahead, so even though our camp fasting has ended, do try to plan for more periods of fasting for yourself.
When our body receives less food, or when we are fasting, we actually release more Human Growth Hormones (HGH). These hormones help with metabolism, weight loss, and muscle growth. So, in a way, fasting can help us to become as strong as Samson, but also as wise as Solomon!
Fasting can also give us confidence. In the Book of Joshua, the Israelites lost 40 thousand men over two days in a battle against the Benjamites. After fasting until the evening, the Lord helped them to win the battle, thus showing how fasting can also strengthen our relationship with God to overcome the impossible.
Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Matthew 6:16-18
However, we need to remember once again that fasting does not guarantee reward, rather it is something that should transform us for the better and for the future.
Prayer:
Thank You Lord for the opportunity to fast in Your presence for the past 2 weeks. I pray that You will continue to guide me through rough waters. I pray that You will continue to lead me to where I need to be. I pray that the NXGN Camp 2024 will go smoothly.
Thank You Abba Father.
Amen.
