Day 13

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
I always love the song "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus", indeed it is a heartfelt call to focus our attention and hearts on Christ, especially during life's challenges and distractions. Today's devotion, inspired by Hebrews 12:2 - "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith," encourages us to shift our thoughts from the worries of the world to the eternal love and grace of Jesus Christ.
In our daily lives, we often encounter situations that can cause worry, fear, or confusion. These moments can easily overwhelm us, making us lose sight of the bigger picture. However, the Bible reminds us to turn our eyes upon Jesus, who is the source of our faith and the one who brings it to completion. By focusing on Him, we are reminded of His unending love, His sacrifice on the cross, and His victory over sin and death.
When we turn our eyes upon Jesus, we see a reflection of God's perfect love and find peace and strength. This act of refocusing helps us to trust in God's plan, even when we don't understand it. It also fills us with hope, knowing that in Jesus, we have a steadfast anchor for our souls.
Psalms 123 “I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven. As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt. We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.”
Psalms 123 also reminds us that no matter what we face in life we can always depend on God. God is our helper and he will give us strength to endure all the challenges and hardships we face. With any challanges we face we have God to help us overcome the obstacles. We will always be fully dependent on God no matter what we accomplished or what we face.
In this simple but deepest act of turning our eyes to Jesus, we find the courage to face life's challenges, the strength to persevere, and the joy of being in His presence. Let us, therefore, make a conscious effort each day to focus on Jesus, allowing His peace and love to fill our hearts and guide our paths. Amen.
