Day 12

Day 12

Finding Peace Through The Storm

"I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace. In the world, you will have tribulation, distress, and suffering, but be courageous—be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy—for I have overcome the world."

John 16:33

God never promised us a life without storms and turbulence, but He brings hope and joy even in the midst of our trials. He provides the strength and comfort we need to navigate our challenges, just like the biblical story of Jesus walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33). When Peter began to doubt and cried out to Jesus, God didn't immediately command the storm to stop. Instead, He reached out His hands to Peter and asked, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" Only when they returned to the boat did the wind subside.

This narrative beautifully encapsulates the idea that while Jesus might not always stop the storms in our lives instantly, He is always present, offering peace, strength, and help to those who call on Him and trust in Him. Peter's experience of walking on water and then beginning to sink when he doubts, demonstrates the importance of faith in the midst of life's storms.

We cannot avoid storms completely, but God helps us so that we can weather or even ride these storms, rising above them until they pass.

It’s not the burdens of life that weighs down. It’s how we handle them that really counts. Isaiah 40 Verse 31, “They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.” The eagle in this story simply uses the storm to lift it higher.

And in the same way we can rise above the storm by setting our mind and faith towards God. Are you going through something hard today? Are you worried about something in particular? Nothing is too big for God. The Lord gives you strength that you need. When you draw near to him, He will draw near to you and give you new hope.

When wind and waves pummel us, we might feel as though God is nowhere near, but let’s take to heart the words Jesus spoke to His disciples: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) We hold onto hope because the truth says we are not alone even when we feel alone.
